This is an excellent opportunity to gain extra experience on a low level pet including level 1's! You can gain roughly 10 levels and your level 1 will not take any damage.

If you decide to level a pet I recommend using a pet with Decoy as your first pet.

Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (or any other Decoy pet)
Leveling Pet
Emerald Proto Whelp or Emerald Whelpling 222

Decoy
Swap in leveling pet (can be level 1)
Swap to Emerald Proto Whelp and follow the guidelines below
Cast Emerald Presence and recast it when there is 1 round remaining
Attack with Emerald Bite
Always attack with you gain your dragonkin passive that increases damage by 50% after dropping an opponent below 50% health. Do this even if it means missing a cast of Emerald Presence.
Cast Emerald Dream when you fall around half health.
